The hero's journey...

It was a slow winter on the writing front, and I'm glad to be back into the much-preferred outdoor writing season.

The Cup of My Blood is now moving along nicely. I thought it was feeling a little limp though, and decided to take a few days to reconsider things like the protagonist's motivation and the arc (and the subsequent completion) of the hero's journey. They're aspects of the storyline that are easy to neglect as the "action/adventure" part of the plot progresses, but can really stiffen the spine of a novel. So I'm going to go back and tweak a bit, maybe add a little, so the reader has a better idea of not just what's going on, but why it's going on.

The manuscript is now 66,000 words, and should be finished sometime this summer.
