It's a start...

Today I completed the first 1,000 words of Little Birdies!—most of a short Prelude, and part of Chapter One. It's not much, but it's a start! Only 139,000 words to go...

And so far I've sent out about 20 query letters to literary agents seeking representation for Middle America. The frightening (and truthfully, really sad) thing is that about 98% of all of the literary agents in the country are located in Manhattan...not exactly my ideal demographic. I don't think there's more than a dozen agents operating in between New York and California (three of them are in Texas). Can you imagine that? What are there? 20,000,000 people in Texas? And just three literary agents (maybe I missed a few). But I guess that's not bad considering that there are none in most states!
